NEENAH, WISCONSIN – Friday, May 5th , marked the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for the first Cobblestone Hotel in Ohio. The Cobblestone Hotel & Suites® of Orrville, Ohio opened its doors to the public March 31st, 2017.

Joined by community members, chamber members, the mayor, investment group, and development team, Tom Kennedy, an investor of six Cobblestone locations, kicked off the ceremony.

“This is a real special day for the Orrville community; it is certainly for me and our investment group.” said Kennedy. “About 4 years ago I had the good fortune of meeting Brian Wogernese from Cobblestone Hotels, and we couldn’t have picked a better development partner. The Cobblestone Hotels brand is ‘Big City, Small Town Values’, and when you look at the history of Smuckers here in the community, and the core American Values, we knew this was a place where the two would really melt well together.”

The Cobblestone Hotel & Suites® of Orrville, Ohio is located at 1720 N. Main Street, allowing a short drive to the J.M Smucker Company. The new hotel features 54 guestrooms with suites available, as well amenities such as an indoor pool, Wi-Fi, a hot breakfast, and more.

“When we met with Tom about 4 years ago, we ended that year with about 31 hotels, and now we just celebrated our 75th opening last week, with Orrville being our 73rd .” said Brian Wogernese, President & CEO of Cobblestone Hotels, LLC. “We worked on this project for about four years, which a lot of communities give up by then. The key to development is not to give up, and the mayor and group kept pushing forward. In addition to celebrating our 75th opening, this is another milestone for us with it being the first location in Ohio.”

Handwerk referenced minutes from a utility board meeting from 1987, which the then mayor referenced the need for a quality hotel in the Orrville area. “That was in ’87, and it has been almost 100 years since we had a hotel in Orrville, we did one better, we have one not in the area, but in Orrville. Mission accomplished, and we welcome Cobblestone.”
